$5,000 FUNDRAISING GOAL

Bill McCleskey serves as Founder and CEO at Mitech Partners, LLC - a tech company based in Nashville, Tennessee, that helps any business in the US shop for internet, phone and TV service between 50+ carriers.

Under Bill's leadership in year one, Mitech Partners attracted over 300 clients like Holiday Inn Express, Library of Congress, Nashville General Hospital, Oregon Army National Guard and Goodwill of Alabama.

Currently, Mitech holds a portfolio of over 1200 clients from California to Pennsylvania and everywhere in between with over 200 IT Partners in their Mitech Partner Program.

Bill’s love for running started in February of 2021 after a personal challenge to run 100 miles in one month. After hitting 105 miles, he continued to raise the bar by completing 2 half marathons, 1 full marathon and 1 ultra-marathon (50k) all in 2021. In 2022, the goal is to complete a 50-mile race at the Nashville Ultra and raise $5000 for Transformation Life Center's, Brown Boys Read program.

“Although I’ve developed a love for running, nothing can replace how becoming an avid reader has impacted my life. I remember starting to develop a love for reading as a senior in high school when a friend loaned me a copy of the Autobiography of Malcolm X. I realized right then that reading gave me confidence and opened my mind to ideas for the future. I’m passionate about helping other young boys in our community develop the same passion because I know how reading affected my life. Without this love, I probably would have never become an entrepreneur and had the progress I enjoy today.”

Bill is also the Author of GET OFF YOUR ASSETS - a book that tells the story of his entrepreneurial journey from $0 to a seven-figure business and what it took to make the leap from employee to entrepreneur. Bill is also co-host of the TECH DONT SLEEP Podcast which interviews tech thought leaders and helps small entrepreneurs grow their business by using technology tools and ideas.

Meet Lolita

$1,000 FUNDRAISING GOAL

Lolita is a Registered Nurse, Certified Run and Health Coach.  Lolita’s love of running and all things fitness was inspired by her eldest daughter after watching her run a half marathon in 2008.  Lolita started her wellness journey and completed her first half marathon in 2009 at the age of 46.  The intent was to run one half marathon and be done, but she was hooked after that.

Although I enjoy running and all things outdoors to stay healthy and for my holistic wellness, I cannot compare the joy that I get when helping the underserved.  Over the past year it has been an honor and privilege to volunteer with the Brown Boy’s Read Program as well as the Financial Literacy Program with Transformation Life Center.

Lolita is also the owner of a health and wellness company Wellness at the Roots, LLC.  She provides run/health coaching in person and virtually

meet sekou writes

$2,500 FUNDRAISING GOAL

Sekou Writes has had way more than his fair share of lives as a professional creative. Among other things, he has authored four books, ghostwritten a New York Times best-seller, been included in a wide variety of anthologies, written a few regular columns, authored an autobiographical stage play, directed a documentary short film, and even written a stage play.

Probably what he’s most known for is test-driving exotic cars and writing about them. Yes, really. He has a couple of fancy-sounding degrees like a BA from Morehouse and an MFA in Creative Writing/Fiction. He also makes bracelets– which isn’t as random as it sounds. As if all that wasn’t enough, he also donates brand new clothes to the unhoused through his HERO Ministry Movement, hosts two podcasts, and the Be Your Own HERO Show on the New Thought Media Network.  He has spoken, performed, lectured and taught workshops at numerous grade schools from elementary to college.

During the pandemic, I started running...and never stopped!  Since June 1, 2021, I've been running every single day, at least a mile a day.  In the process, I've racked up more than 1,000 miles and raised more than $7,000 dollars for more than 10 different causes across 12 different cities.  Yes...I am still running  and I want you to help my next Hero's Charity Run adventure at the Steps of Success 5K to support Transformation Life Center's Brown Boys Read program.

I volunteered with the Brown Boys Read program last year and was struck by how necessary this type of program is. With your help, we can help them expand their reach and provide more boys the opportunity to become better readers and runners!  Let's lift up Brown Boys Read!
